Did you know that July is Disability Pride Month?
Disability pride is my kind of pride. It is about community, identity, culture, and the work disabled and Deaf people have done to change the world around us.
We know disability is not a bad word. Do you? We know accessibility is not charity. Do you?
We know the barriers we face are created and maintained by systems, policies, spaces, and attitudes that continue to exclude us. But there is still a lot of work to do.
This month, PTC is celebrating the leadership of our community and our pride. We will keep joining others in pushing for better access and more accountability, with disabled people at the centre of decisions that affect our lives.
